Stephane is a senior lecturer in business and management at Middlesex University. He has a PhD in Business from Macquarie University, Sydney and an MA in Knowledge Management from the University of Technology, Sydney. Stephane’s main research focus has been on the management of inter-firm relationships. More specifically he studies the management of cooperative buyer-supplier partnerships and the formulation and implementation of supplier strategies. He has been published in a number of journals on the topic of supplier strategies and he regularly presents his work at academic conferences around the world.

John Astbury is an independent international maritime and aviation consultant and formerly the Chief Executive Officer of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) the UK’s maritime authority responsible for the global security of British shipping, and the enforcement of merchant shipping regulations. He has lectured and presented extensively on maritime matters around the globe and is currently researching his doctorate in emergency management operations at the University; he is also an experienced expert witness in this regard.

Ioannis was awarded a PhD in Economics from the University of Kent in 2008 and he also holds an MA in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Manchester. Ioannis’ teaching interests focus on International trade, Macroeconomics and Applied Economics. He has also published a book on Trade and Competitiveness (VDM Verlag) and a number of academic articles that appear in internationally recognised peer reviewed journals. Ioannis has also contributed studies and chapters in edited volumes

Dr. Robert Jenefsky career includes a succession of international managerial positions in marketing and R&D in the information technology and systems industries for many years. From 1998 to 2008 he was professor of marketing and management at Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, teaching in the undergraduate, graduate and executive education programs. He holds a doctorate from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne and his current activities focus on consulting, writing and executive education.

Anna is currently Dean and Pro Vice Chancellor of Middlesex University Business School. She has worked with the strategic development of organisations and their management teams for more than 25 years. Her areas of specialism are organisational behaviour, managing people, and learning and development with a particular emphasis on managing and developing people in the virtual organisation. She has extensive research experience in survey design and data analysis at organisational, national and international levels.

Mark has been teaching Strategic Marketing, as well as, Marketing Management for a number of years in undergraduate, graduate and executive education programs – MBA and Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). He holds a Doctorate in Ethnic Entrepreneurship, MA in Marketing Management, MBA in Corporate Strategy, Undergraduate Degree, and a PGCFE. Mark is a Chartered Marketer with the CIM, and holds Member status with both the CIM and Institute of Direct Marketing (IDM). In addition to his teaching career, Mark has a number of years experience within various service sectors and has consulted to a number of ethnic SMEs. His research interests are Ethnic and Islamic Marketing, Services Marketing, and Marketing Strategy. He has research published in journals, and presented at UK and International conferences.

Jyoti is a Reader in Finance and Economics at Middlesex University Business School. She has an MBA and is a Doctor of Philosophy in Risk Management (Southampton University. Her key research activities are in the areas of Risk Management, Financial Institutions and Regulations, Innovation, Marketing and Business Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility and Professional Education.

Dr Anna M. Lassila is a Senior Lecturer in Operations Management, a Director of Undergraduate Programmes and the Programme Leader for BA Business Management (Supply Chain Management) at Middlesex University Business School, in London. She teaches operations management at undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA levels.Her research interests include production planning and control, computer simulation, design and analysis of production systems and biological and fractal manufacturing. In addition to regularly presenting her work at international conferences around the world, Anna has had
her work published in journals such as the International Journal of Production Research, the International Journal of Services and Operations Management and the International Journal of Industrial and Systems Engineering. She has a BEng in Production Engineering from Central Ostrobothnia Polytechnic in Finland, an MSc in Advanced Engineering (Manufacturing) and a PhD in Operations Management from Sheffield Hallam University.

Dr Efthimios Poulis holds a Bachelor degree (B.B.A.) and an MBA from Athens University of Economics and Business in Greece and a PhD in Strategy from Manchester Business School in the UK. He has taught at several Universities in the UK, Greece, Russia and Ireland and worked for multinationals like Procter & Gamble and Johnson & Johnson and shipping multinationals in Greece and in The Philippines as well. Efthimios is also sitting at the Board of Directors and offering his knowledge, experience and expertise as a consultant to several shipping organisations

Muhammad Rizwan is working with Middlesex University Business School in 2010. He specialises in the area of Business and Logistics. He received his MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from University College Molde, Norway. Currently he is a candidate of PhD in Middlesex University.

Merv has served in towage and merchant shipping and has nearly 30 years’ teaching experience in Shipping & Logistics at the Merchant Navy College, Warsash School of Navigation (Southampton) and London Metropolitan University. He currently divides his time between Copenhagen Business School, Hamburg School of Shipping & Transportation, Lloyd’s Maritime Academy and the European College of Business Management (London & Aachen). Additionally, he is External Examiner at Southampton Solent University and the University of Plymouth. His research interests are inter-modal transport, and logistics particularly short sea shipping and its potential for delivering sustainable transport.

After a spell in the Italian paratroops, Valeriano (Val) studied Law at Pisa University, and then he went into business to develop and manage a leisure, tourist and media group on behalf of a family consortium. Ten years later, he moved to the UK, and worked for a few years to develop a career in business education. He graduated from the Open University with a BA in Systems Thinking and Economics, and from Bournemouth University with a BSc in Hospitality Management. In the late eighties he took the job of Senior Lecturer at Middlesex University Business School, where he also obtained an MBA in 1990. Val has been involved in teaching and running the MBA at Middlesex since the early 1990s. He has been visiting lecturer at the Université d’Angers (France) and the Politecnico di Torino (Italy). His main interest is in Strategy and International Business, and specifically in the use of systemic ideas to identify and tackle strategic issues in organisations. He has been a tutor for the Strategy module on the MBA Online since 2009.
